Little Falls, New York (Erie Canal Locks 11-17)

Today we traveled 37.1 NM
Total traveled to date 1,332.7 NM

We've had all the locks to ourselves the past two days except for two which we shared with Sharon and King aboard Blue Moon. To date we have completed 17 locks on the Erie Canal. We are docked at Little Falls Canal Harbor in Little Falls, NY.

Blue Moon entering Lock 12 behind us.

We had to wait on the Lock Master at Lock 13 as he was mowing the grass and didn't hear us call!

The "Mac-Daddy" of Locks, Lock 17, raised us up 40.5 feet. Yes, that is a wall of huge trees creating a dam (damn!) in front of the lock gate.  "We" had to shove it aside without pulling any back into the lock, damaging our boat, or our prop....a great story to share in the future!

This lock wall is inches from my nose looking up 40.5 feet as I hold onto the rope!

A very surreal feeling being in a concrete hole this deep, with our boat that cost a few dollars. Holding our boat against a concrete wall with turbulent rising water from the other end, holding on to a rope.....A day well lived!

At port, Little Falls Canal Harbor, NY.
Life is good!
