Fort Myers, Florida - Days 6 - 9

We enjoyed several sunny days followed by a stormy day with another tornado warning. A tornado touched down and took the lives of two people near neighboring Punta Gorda area. This winter is historically the wettest ever in southwest Florida. This area generally averages 2.3" of rainfall each month during the winter season. This year, 2016, they have received over 16.5" inches of rain already. Add to it, water from Lake Okeechobee is being released and devastating the Gulf of Mexico waters near Fort Myers Beach, Sanibel, and others.

Today we enjoyed lunch at Al Capone's with Patty and Jack. It is believed that Al Capone's secret vault was found where this restaurant is located. During renovations of this building, which is an old bank, they accidentally uncovered an underground room which is believed to have been the actual secret vault of Al Capone. Evidently, Al Capone would visit Fort Myers often and they believe they now know why.

Fact or myth?
