Amsterdam, New York (Erie Canal Locks 2 - 10)

We traveled 33 NM today along the Erie Canal Locks. We completed Locks 2 - 10 and are docked at Amsterdam Riverlink Park.  We lifted up 273 ft today.  The "Waterford Steps Locks", locks 2 - 6 took us 1 hour 35 minutes to raise 163.1 ft in only  1.0 NM.

Waterford, New York

We traveled 38 NM today through Albany then stopped over at Troy, NY as the Troy Lock was temporarily closed.  We enjoyed a quick tour of the historic city. We then went through the Troy Federal Lock which raised us up 15'. We docked at the Waterford Canal Welcome Visitor Center at Lock #2 (which begins the long string of Erie Canal Locks).  We rented a car and went into Albany for a few hours to run errands and eat. We were able to go to Lock 2 Park and see the lock via land. Tomorrow we will go through this historical lock along with at least 5 other locks.
